It's time for the ASC's annual jelly bean contest

03.09.2016 | By:

Easter is around the corner and so is the annual jelly bean counting contest in the Academic Success Center.

According to about.com, the first reference to jelly beans was in the late 1800's when William Schrafft encouraged Americans to send jelly beans to soldiers fighting in the Civil War. It was not until the 1930's that the common penny candy became associated with Easter, most likely because of the egg-like shape.

Come by the ASC to take a guess at how many jelly beans are in the jar. The closest guess wins the jar of jelly beans and an Easter goodie bag of candy. The contest ends on March 23 so come and take your guess today.
