Superintendent Certificate Program

Are you a professional educator who seeks to work with decision-making personnel and with higher-level administrators and who wants to lead schools into strong 21st-century environments for learners? Then the Texas Wesleyan Superintendent Certificate is for you.

Our Instructors

Three outstanding administrators from the North Texas area serve as model leaders and professors in our Superintendent-Only Certificate Program. Dr. William Newton (formerly Keller ISD), Dr. Ken Helvey (formerly Allen ISD) and Dr. Joe Dryden (formerly Weatherford ISD) guide the credential seeking student through 15 hours of hybrid coursework.

Our Coursework

All courses are easily accessible by the working individual and may be completed within one year.

  • Supervision of personnel and instructional programs
  • School finance and budgeting
  • Planning and facilities
  • The superintendency/internship
  • Educational law and policy 

Program Requirements

State of Texas requirements for the professional superintendent certificate: 
  1. A master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education. 
  2. A principal's certificate or the equivalent issued under Texas or by another state or country.
  3. Successful completion of an approved superintendent educator preparation program.
  4. Satisfactorily complete the TExES exam based on the Texas state standards for superintendents.

For admission consideration to Wesleyan's Superintendent Certification Program:

  1. GPA of 3.2 or greater on a 4.0 for master's work; completed master's degree.
  2. GRE of 150 on verbal reasoning and 141 on quantitative reasoning within last 5 years, 4 or better on GRE analytical writing.
  3. Three letters of recommendation.
  4. Interview session with program faculty.
