Hundreds of Fort Worth ISD educators gathered at TXWES in early August to kick off the new school year and a first-of-its-kind partnership designed to take five elementary and middle schools in the Leadership Academy Network to new levels of academic success.

Specialized staff in the TXWES School of Education now operate and manage Fort Worth ISD’s five Leadership Academy schools. Teachers from those campuses prepared for the first year of the unique collaboration with a “Welcome Back” day, which introduced them to the new leadership team and the resources now available to them through TXWES.

“Our team is honored to support the dedicated teachers who are changing the face of education in our community,” said Leadership Academy Network Senior Officer Priscila Dilley. “Our Leadership Academy teams are energized, and so are we, to start the school year. Together, TXWES and Fort Worth ISD are breaking new ground in education.”

In addition to meeting Dilley, as well as Academic Officer Whitney Clark and Operations Officer Christopher Shropshire, teachers previewed a video that showcased back-to-school excitement.

The joint effort builds on the turnaround made at the schools since 2017, when Fort Worth ISD implemented its Leadership Academy model—which features an extended school day, highly effective teachers and principals and increased focus on daily academic mastery.

In one year, the Leadership Academies at Como Elementary, Maude I. Logan Elementary, Mitchell Boulevard Elementary, John T. White Elementary and Forest Oak Middle School all came of the Texas Education Agency’s “Improvement Required” list.

The Leadership Academy Network brings additional expertise and support while developing individualized solutions for each campus’s needs.
