Wisdom Wednesday: Facing your academic fear to talk to your professor

10.31.2017 | By:
A student picks up a few study tips from a professor.

It can be scary to talk to your professor; whether it is asking questions or when you are confused on a topic you discussed in class. Here are some tips to overcome that fear and approach your professor for help.

  1. Write down the questions you want to ask your professor. This way you are prepared for your conversation.
  2. Check your syllabus for the professor's office hours. Scheduling to meet your professor is very helpful and you can know if you need to talk to the professor after class.
  3. Remember the professor is there to help you, not judge you. Don't be afraid to ask any questions you have.
  4. Tell your friends! If they are stuck on something, encourage them to face their fear and talk to their professor too.
