To prepare for Theatre Wesleyan's production of Nick Jones' zany high fashion sci-fi comedy, opening at Theatre Wesleyan on Feb. 15, theatre major Tobin Griffin has created a Top 5 list for audience members. Here are Tobin Griffin's "Top 5 Hats That Audience Members Should NOT Wear to Important Hats."
Unless you're in a full suit and somehow in a theatre of the 1940s, this hat is probably just gonna look out of place in any place.
Don't wear a fez... we will assume you got lost on your way to a Shriner's meeting.
Just because you are seeing theatre, doesn't mean you have to look like a cartoon of a fine arts student. I promise you we'll still love to hear about your directorial ambitions without that hat.
Not only will you block the patrons' view behind you, but a brief look back in history shows that top hats have bad luck in American theatres.
Don't ask me why I have to say this, but I do. Just know it's a bad idea.
Hats will be directed by Bryan Stevenson, theatre department chair, and will open on Thursday, Feb. 15, for a limited run of seven performances through Sunday, Feb. 25.
Performances will be held Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and there will be one matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25.
