02.01.2016 | By: Texas Wesleyan University

Theatre Wesleyan kicks off the new year and continues their 2015-2016 season with a production of The 39 Steps, adapted by Patrick Barlow. The play is adapted from the 1915 novel by John Buchan and the 1935 film by Alfred Hitchcock.

"It's a spy story made funny. It turns all the cliches of that standard plot on its side and has a main character you can like and want to see succeed," Dean Phillips II, a sophomore theatre major, said.
The play is a mix of classic Alfred Hitchcock, an intriguing spy novel, and a little Monty Python humor. This show will have you laughing from start to finish. The 4 person cast will play the role of over 150 characters.

The 39 Steps is directed by associate professor of theatre and department chair Bryan Stevenson, and will open on Feb. 11. Come see the show at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11 through Saturday, Feb. 13. and Thursday, Feb. 18 through Saturday, Feb. 20. There is one matinee showing on at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21.

Tickets are now on sale. Visit the Theatre Wesleyan website or call 817-531-4211.
