Alumni and friends reminisce at Wesleyan Encore reception

11.23.2015 | By:

Theatre alumni met after a matinee performance of The School for Scandal in Lou’s Place for the Wesleyan Encore Reception. Attendees enjoyed watching and reminiscing about the 2002 Follow the Dream musical revue, which was the first performance in Martin Hall after it was renovated.

"Encore was established as a way for theatre alumni to get together and stay in touch, but it turned into much more," stated Mike Wood '76, a founding member of Encore. "We did productions for the University and local churches, all for free. But we wanted to do more for the school and the current theatre students. So we established the Encore Scholarship to help current theatre students. A grant of $1,000.00 is given each year to a deserving student. So far, we have helped 12 students in continuing their education and hope to continue to help for a long time. If you are an alumnus and participated in any way in a theater production, we would love to have you join Encore."
