Canceled: Support local youth organizations at the Spirit and Service lunch

09.01.2021 | By:

Due to scheduling and participation concerns, the Homecoming Spirit & Service lunch has been canceled. We still plan to support the local children’s charities with goodie bags, so please visit our Amazon Wish List to donate to that effort. If you are interested in writing notes of encouragement to be included in the bags, please contact Jeri Chipman at jechipman@txwes.edu

Come join us for food and giveaways at the Ram Zone tailgate before the football game at Farrington Field starting at noon on Oct. 30.

Texas Wesleyan is proud to be a part of the Polytechnic Heights neighborhood for over 131 years. Our southeast Fort Worth community is a special place and we as an alumni association want to give back during this year’s Homecoming weekend. Our new event, the ‘Spirit and Service’ Lunch, will offer all TXWES alumni the chance to catch up with friends while supporting local charities, our students, and maybe even a few future Rams.

This year, we will be partnering with the local Boys and Girls Club, ACH Child and Family Services and Polytechnic High School to assemble goodie bags for children and students. Our goal is to assemble 300 bags — and we need your help! Bring a bag of candy or some small toys to the lunch to put in the bags and help us reach our goal. Or, you can easily purchase some supplies from our Amazon wish list and they will be shipped straight to us!

ACH Child and Family Services

ACH utilizes a variety of resources to promote child welfare by strengthening families. Using a combination of research, training and leadership, they aim to reduce child abuse and increase thriving family dynamics. ACH wants children to experience safety, hope and love, and they seek to use their resources to encourage healing in the lives of those that have experienced trauma or tragedy.

Boys and Girls Club

The mission of the Boys and Girls Club is to give young people the tools to reach their full potential as citizens in the community. This youth development organization places a focus on academic success and healthy lifestyle initiatives in the effort to foster caring and responsible citizens. They are committed to inclusion and creating a safe environment for youth. All children and teens are welcome!

Polytechnic High School

The mission of our neighbors at Poly High School is to instill the passion to learn in all students and staff, focusing on the key values of perseverance, respect, integrity, dependability and excellence. The staff aims to encourage lifelong learning and continuous growth in the minds of all who pass through their doors. The school is a pillar in our neighborhood that seeks to lift up others and the community as a whole.

To hear more about these incredible organizations in our community and help us support them in their missions, join us at the Homecoming ‘Spirit and Service’ lunch. We would love to see you there!
