The Texas Wesleyan Alumni Association is pleased to announce Terry O'Halloran '77 as the recipient of the 2023 Distinguished Alumni award.

Terry O’Halloran was born in Corpus Christi, Texas and moved to Arlington, Texas in 1955. After graduating from Arlington High School in 1966, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. Upon completing his military service, he decided it was time to get an education and he kept hearing about how great Texas Wesleyan University was. Not only was it a great school, it was also nearby his hometown and so it was an easy decision. In 1977 he graduated with a BBA Business Management degree. Five years later he would earn an MBA from another local university.

After initially working for a Fort Worth corporation as Vice President for 7 years, Terry would then go on to work for Air Systems Components (ASC) where he would spend the last 29 years of his career. He worked his way through ASC as Senior Vice President, President, Group President, and Chief Operating Officer within several internal organizations. When a private equity group purchased the parent organization ASC, Terry was named the President and Chief Executive Officer of a $1.7 billion division with 13,000 employees spanning 26 countries. He retired from this position in 2014.

Throughout Terry’s career he oversaw 28 acquisitions both within the United States as well as overseas amounting to over $800 million in added revenue. Additionally, he was often called on to go into struggling companies within other divisions to assess and assist in business turnarounds where he improved efficiency and safety metrics, implemented function centralizations, oversaw quality upgrades, and revenue improvements. Beyond the company he worked for, he also served on several boards of directors for private equity and public companies such as Tomkins PLC, The Sterling Group, Air System Technologies, Johnson Controls, and more importantly, Texas Wesleyan University.

Terry is an avid golfer and memorabilia and art collector. He and his wife Charlie enjoy travelling and are members of the Glen Eagles Country Club in Plano, Texas where he enjoys multiple rounds of golf every week. More importantly, he is the proud father of two daughters and a son, and has 5 grandchildren as well as one step-son. Within the family he is affectionately known as “Poppy” and the grandchildren all look forward to “Terry-dactyl”, the pterodactyl hand puppet, making an appearance every Christmas.
