Aries, the student-run literary magazine at Texas Wesleyan University, is currently welcoming submissions in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry for our Fall 2023 issue! Submissions will remain open until Friday, Sept. 8.

The theme of this year's magazine is “The End of an Era.” As a society, it feels like we are currently standing on a precipice. We are running into the digital age blindfolded, existing in a time of societal upset and tumultuous change and reflecting on new identities and realities since the onset of COVID-19. We are interested in fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry that deal with a literal or metaphorical end of an era, that provide reflection at a time of change and that focus on themes of coming of age, societal change, writing as activism and worlds in upheaval.

University employees, faculty and alumni are encouraged to submit work for our “Faculty, Staff and Alumni Voices” section.

We accept up to three poems, 5,000 words of fiction, 5,000 words of creative nonfiction or three works of art per submission. Individuals are welcome to submit in more than one category. Please send only one submission per genre.

Email your creative writing submissions as a .doc or .docx and your art submissions as a PDF to arieslitmag@gmail.com.

If you have questions about submissions, please email us at arieslitmag@gmail.com. You may also reach out to Dr. Gina Warren, the magazine’s faculty coordinator, at warren@txwes.edu.
