In an effort to connect learning objectives from her course to a real-world company, Trisha Anderson, Ph.D., Professor of Business Management took her production and operations management classes to Peterbilt Motor Company for a tour.
Based in Denton, Texas, Peterbilt Motors Company has a global reputation for industry-leading design, innovative engineering and fuel-efficient solutions. With our full line of on-highway, vocational and medium-duty products, including alternative-fueled vehicles, a proven array of TruckCare aftermarket support programs and a respected network of independent North American dealerships, Peterbilt continues its industry leadership.
During the visit, the students had the opportunity to observe the full process of building a Peterbilt truck, network with employees and ask questions about the processes.
Mirella Puga, a junior accounting and management major, believes these experiences give her a different perspective of learning.
“I learned about Peterbilt’s company story, operational strategy, value chain, products, manufacturing process, supply chain and innovation and technology for the future and long-term plans,” Puga, said.
Mirella thanks Anderson and the School of Business Administration for the opportunity and hopes that in the near future other students will have the opportunity to visit a company like Peterbilt.
