For the 27th year, Texas Wesleyan University is playing a critical role in making sure North Texas children are staying enriched through the summer, with the help of science. Almost 100 Fort Worth ISD students, under the watchful eyes of teachers and camp leaders, are getting an invaluable lesson during the annual Chemistry Camp.

“I love teaching science,” said Latesha Washington, a 6th grade Fort Worth ISD science teacher taking part in the Camp for her third year. “This is an awesome place for the children to get that hands-on lab experience.”

During the three-week Camp which runs throughout June, children are broken up into groups, led by middle and high school students who took part in the Camp when they were younger. They are all overseen by Fort Worth ISD teachers. Ricardo Rodriguez, Ph.D., dean of the School of Natural and Social Sciences at Texas Wesleyan University, organizes the camp, with TXWES providing the lab space and support.
