Substantial progress continues to be made on the most significant capital improvement project at Texas Wesleyan in 100 years, the Nick and Lou Martin University Center.

The concrete making up the first floor slab of the Martin Center has been poured and 60% of the building's steel has been erected, keeping the project on track for opening in Fall 2019.

“I’m very pleased with how the project has gone so far,” said Brian Franks, executive director of facilities development & operations. “Weather has been on our side and has kept us on track. We can’t wait to finish and open the Martin Center to students, faculty, staff and the world.”

You can get an up-close look at construction and hear about progress firsthand from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, as part of Homecoming Weekend.

Don’t forget to track progress 24 hours a day, seven days a week no matter where you are, with our construction camera.

About the Martin Center

Located between the Eunice and James L. West Library and Canafax Clock Tower, the Martin Center will be approximately 44,000-square-feet and two stories tall. It will include a new student and family welcome center, food court, ballroom that can accommodate 300, bookstore and convenience store, spaces for student organizations and student life offices, lounge areas, meeting rooms and additional office space.
