Montgomery honored by Fort Worth Business Press at CFO award event

In a special awards reception Jan. 29, Karen L. Montgomery, vice president for finance and administration and CFO, was recognized by the Fort Worth Business Press at their fifth annual CFO of the Year event.

Other area honorees included CFOs from businesses and organizations such as BNSF Railway, SafeHaven of Tarrant County, Coors Distributing of Fort Worth and Fort Worth Independent School District. You can read more about the event and honorees in the Fort Worth Business Press event story.

About Karen 

Montgomery was appointed Texas Wesleyan University’s vice president for finance and administration and CFO in March of 2012. During that time key achievements include:

  • Restructuring the University’s debt to obtain more favorable terms
  • Preparing for the SACSCOC ten-year regional accreditation review
  • Implementing a new asset allocation strategy for the University’s endowment
  • Accomplishing the due diligence associated with the sale of the Law School to Texas A&M University

Montgomery holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Oklahoma, and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Colorado at Denver. She is a CPA with more than 30 years experience in the public and non-profit sector.
