Texas Wesleyan makes the transition easy for transfer students

10.09.2013 | By:

A range of services designed to help transfer students makes it easy to transition to Texas Wesleyan.  We have a designated transfer liaison – plus a mentorship program and transfer student advisory board.

Mentorship Program

The mentorship program matches new freshman and transfer students with mentors who are upperclassmen, faculty or staff. Mentors provide new students with the guidance and support needed for a successful transition to the university. The program lasts for one academic year (fall through spring).

The mentorship program is a great opportunity to develop relationships with individuals on campus. We encourage mentees to meet with their mentors at least three times during each semester. New Student Programs will provide scheduled activities as well as activity ideas for mentors and mentees.  Participation in these activities is not mandatory, but we strongly encourage mentors and mentees to attend.

Transfer Student Advisory Board

The mission of the Transfer Student Advisory Board (TSAB) is to create a voice for transfer students at Texas Wesleyan University.  The TSAB desires to create a welcoming and supportive environment for transfer students as they transition into the Texas Wesleyan community.

The TSAB meets during free period on the second and fourth Thursday of each month in the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Science and Technology Center.

Transfer Liaison

We have a designated transfer liaison, Ashley Newkirk, who is available to assist students with their transition to Texas Wesleyan University. Students are encouraged to contact her at anewkirk@txwes.edu if they are not sure of their next steps or of where to turn for assistance.
