Alumnus chosen as UNTHSC president

08.03.2013 | By:

Alumnus Michael Williams ’77 has been named as president of the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. Williams has served as interim president since December.

Last month, Williams was named as the sole finalist. State law requires that the board waits a minimum of 21 days before making a final decision.

In a Star-Telegram article, Williams said he was happy about their choice.

“It feels great to be here,” he said. “It feels great to be an official part of the team.”

In a recent Fort Worth Business Press article, Williams said he is gratified by the support he has been given.

“I feel a real sense of validation – that we are going in the right direction,” Williams said. “People in this community and in the UNT leadership resonate with the message that I am trying to send: that we are growing in prominence and that we want to give back.”

This spring, Williams was named to the Texas Wesleyan University Board of Trustees and also served as the commencement speaker for Texas Wesleyan.
