Dennis Hall named interim dean of students

Dennis Hall named Interim Dean of Students at Texas Wesleyan University.

Dennis Hall has been promoted from assistant dean to interim dean of students. In his new role, Hall will oversee residence life, student life, the Morton Fitness Center and the university health center. Hall boasts nine years of experience in higher education, including five years as assistant director, dean of students at the University of North Texas.

"Dennis has already distinguished himself as a tremendous leader and advocate for our students," Pati Alexander, vice-president of enrollment and student services, said. "The university will benefit from his ability to connect with a broad range of students and his background in overseeing student conduct and safety issues."

At UNT, Hall was actively involved in identifying and responding to behavior issues and emergency and crisis situations that arose from the student body, with a focus on supporting students’ integrity and well-being.

While at UNT, Hall also helped supervise the campus Substance Abuse Resource Center, revised and updated the Student Code of Conduct, supervised training and conduct issues in relation to the Clery Act, Title IX and FERPA and created and chaired the Drug and Alcohol Education Taskforce.

Prior to serving as UNT’s assistant director, dean of students, Hall was head hall director for UNT housing and residence life. His higher education experience began at Central Washington University where he served as residence hall coordinator.

Dennis has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Oregon State University and a master’s in education with an emphasis in student affairs administration from UNT. Hall is currently pursuing a doctor of philosophy in higher education at UNT.
