Table tennis team sweeps through Texas Division

The Texas Wesleyan University table tennis team swept through the second of two NCTTA Texas Division Tournaments on Saturday. The Rams went undefeated, taking both the Coed and Women's Team titles.

The Texas Wesleyan University table tennis team swept through the second of two NCTTA Texas Division Tournaments on Saturday. The Rams went undefeated, taking both the Coed and Women's Team titles.

Texas Wesleyan led UT-Austin, UT-Dallas, and the University of North Texas in the Coed Team event. On the women's side, UT-Dallas finished second with UT-Austin third, and Texas A&M fourth.

"The Texas Division is on an extremely high playing level," head coach Jasna Rather said. "There are national team members from different countries on different teams."

The singles competitions were also dominated by the Rams. Anastasia Rybka won the women's singles title, while Edina Haracic was the runner-up and Caroline Kajihara placed fourth. Lin Hong of UT-Dallas finished third.

In men's singles, Jishan Liang took the top spot, with Bruno Ventura Dos Anjos second, and Emil Santos third. UT-Austin's Felix Chan took fourth.

The next step in the road to the NCTTA College Table Tennis National Championship is the South Region Tournament which will be held in Round Rock, TX, February 20-21. Round Rock will also be the site of the National Championships March 22-27.
