TXWES Sees a 10% Increase in Enrollment & Celebrates the Largest First-Year Class in University History

FORT WORTH, Texas —Texas Wesleyan University is celebrating a 10% increase in overall enrollment this fall with 2,792 total students enrolled, demonstrating continuous momentum of recent growth. The university is also welcoming the largest first-year class in its history with 501 first-year students enrolling this year, beating the record set in 2023 with 490 first-year students. Transfer and graduate enrollment also saw increases.
“This historic level of interest is a strong signal that students and families recognize the value of a Texas Wesleyan education,” said President Dr. Emily Messer. “We offer a personalized experience to remove barriers for students while ensuring they succeed in their selected field. Our university is focused on academic rigor, affordability, and transformative opportunities for all students. Texas Wesleyan students graduate prepared not only for their first job but for leadership and lifelong success.”
The university is also celebrating 135 years as Fort Worth’s first higher education institution with this milestone news indicating a bright future ahead at Texas Wesleyan.
A record number of First-Year applications were received, growing 29% over the previous year. These numbers underscore Texas Wesleyan’s growing reputation as a leader in academic programs, including business, education, and psychology, as well as its mission to increase social mobility.
“Some of our outsized growth may be credited to our investment in students by offering the TXWES Promise, a full-tuition program for Pell Grant-eligible Texas residents," said Lauren Findley, vice president of enrollment management. “We are proud to open doors for our talented students, ensuring they thrive at Texas Wesleyan beyond enrollment.”
The university is nationally recognized for advancing social mobility. With more than half of students identifying as first-generation college students, TXWES was recently named as a First-Gen Forward campus, a national designation for leading universities supporting the needs of first-generation college students.
”The commitment of our faculty and staff has resulted in a growing reputation that our small campus environment leads students towards greater opportunities for their futures,” said Findley.
Texas Wesleyan’s record highlights its growing reputation as a leading institution for students seeking a personalized, high-impact education.
