11 Rams earn SAC Scholar-Athlete from basketball, wrestling

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Sooner Athletic Conference announced 74 recipients of its 2020 Scholar-Athlete award for the sports of women's and men's basketball and wrestling. 11 Texas Wesleyan student-athletes earned the award, including 4.0 GPA athlete Zane Miller from men's wrestling.
 
The criteria to earn the SAC scholar-athlete honor is the same as the NAIA scholar-athlete award. Those student-athletes who are juniors or above in academic standing with at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average, appear on the eligibility certificate for an NAIA-recognized sport and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer shall be eligible for the SAC scholar-athlete accolade.
 
TXWES Women's Basketball named 7 to the list, second to Southwestern Christian, which tabbed a league-leading 9.
 
Men's basketball posted two scholar-athletes, including the single-game 3-point record holder Peyton Sallee.
 
Men's wrestling named SAC champ Dracius Mckee and 4.0 athlete Miller. Miller is a junior biology and life science major from Ardmore, Okla. He competes in the 197-lb. weight class
 
47 women's basketball student-athletes from the conference became SAC scholar-athletes, 15 wrestlers were named, while 12 men's basketball players were awarded.
