Head Coach Joe Prud’homme and his staff have been pounding the pavement all spring. The Texas Wesleyan University football program hosted the fifth of six Recruiting Blitzes on Wednesday, May 25, and the team has hit 50 commitments.

Prud’homme is in the process of recruiting a redshirt leadership class that will be on campus in the fall. That class is expected to be made up of approximately 75 students. That leaves the program 67% of the way to their goal.

Recruitment Blitz offers prospective football players and their families the opportunity to visit campus and meet with admissions counselors and financial aid representatives. The groups are also given one-on-one time with the coaches and even get a discussion on eligibility from Athletic Director Steve Trachier.

"We are on the phone every day trying to find the right kids for our program,” Prud’homme said. “It’s exciting to see things beginning to come together.”

The response to Texas Wesleyan Football, a small college program located in the heart of the DFW Metroplex, has been overwhelming. The team’s combine, held at L.D. Bell High School drew approximately 250 participants, and the program is well on its way to filling out a roster for its return to the gridiron in 2017.
