Texas Wesleyan University Athletic Director Steve Trachier announced the appointment of Ricky Dotson as Associate Athletic Director. Dotson will assist Trachier in all matters of athletic administration.

"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to move into the role of Associate Athletic Director," Dotson, commented. "This is an unbelievably thrilling time to be a part of Texas Wesleyan Athletics, and to be in a position to help guide the future of our program is humbling, to say the least. I'm grateful for the belief that Steve, the coaches, and the administration have in me, and I'm looking forward to working with all of them in their efforts to make this University the best it can be."

The hire comes in conjunction with Trachier taking on the role of head women's basketball coach. Dotson joins Trachier and Associate Athletic Director/Head Women's Golf Coach Kevin Millikan in directing the University's athletic department.

"We are very lucky to have Ricky in this capacity," Trachier, said. "He has many years of experience in athletic administration and he completely understands the mission of the athletic department; school comes first, one hundred percent of the time.  Ricky's broad and diverse range of experience made him the ideal candidate for this position. He adds value to what we are doing in athletics."

Dotson has served the University as an assistant coach for five seasons, the last four with the men's golf program as well as three seasons (2012-2015) with the men's basketball program. In the fall of 2015, Dotson was promoted to Associate Head Men's Golf Coach. Then, last summer, Dotson headed up the United States Men's Golf team at the World University Championships in Brive, France.

Dotson brings an extensive background in collegiate athletics to Texas Wesleyan. Prior to his time at Texas Wesleyan, he had over 20 years of experience in capacities spanning coaching, administration, media relations, and faculty positions.

With the addition of football, which will begin play this fall, Texas Wesleyan's athletic department includes seventeen varsity programs.  This season, the Rams have enjoyed great success with national championships in men's basketball and table tennis while the men and women's golf programs, as well as the baseball team, are nationally ranked.
