SAC honors Spring Academic All-Conference athletes

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Sooner Athletic Conference has named its Academic All-Conference athletes for the spring sports, including men's and women's basketball. Texas Wesleyan had 32 athletes make the list across seven sports. The national champion men's golf team led the SAC with four Academic All-Conference selections: Taylor Beckstead, Rowan Lester, Conner Parish and Futa Yamagishi.

To calculate academic all-SAC, student-athletes must be sophomores, juniors or seniors who have produced a minimum 3.25 grade-point average during the previous two semesters and are regular letter winners on his/her team.

Parrish, Yamagishi, baseball's Parker Robinson and women's golfer Jaci Trotter were distinguished for the third consecutive season. Savannah Brixey (softball), Nicole Gleason (women's basketball), Melissa Gonazlez (women's track and field), Elena Sinde Romero (women's golf), Tomi Sanchez (women's basketball), and Mark Schreiner (baseball) earned back-to-back recognition.

Texas Wesleyan student-athletes who qualified as All-Academic are listed below by sport:

  • Women's basketball - Lorian Benjamin, Lexi Burns, Nicole Gleason, Chrystal Ngawuchu, Tomi Sanchez, Evie Whorley
  • Baseball - Tanner Amaral, Josh Brown, Josh Davis, Houston Glad, Craig Mattes, Jesse Ramirez, Parker Robinson, Mark Schreiner, Brooks Wallace
  • Men's golf - Taylor Beckstead, Rowan Lester, Conner Parish, Futa Yamagishi
  • Women's golf - Emily Hunt, Elena Sinde Romero, Jaci Trotter
  • Softball - Savannah Brixey, Ashton Davis, Kaitlyn Johnson, Lacy Mann, Jenna Rhoades
  • Men's track and field - Alan ArellanoNikolas Westfall
  • Women's track and field - Melissa Gonzalez, Jaclyn Ramos, Melissa Rodriguez
