The Texas Wesleyan Athletic Department announced today that head women's basketball coach Brenita Jackson has accepted the position as head women's basketball coach at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX.

Jackson has served as the head coach of the Lady Rams since 2021, and left a lasting impact in her two seasons in Fort Worth. In her first season, Jackson led the Lady Rams to the third-highest single-season win count in school history, racking up a total of 25 wins. The following season saw Jacksons Lady Rams claim the Sooner Athletic Conference championship, amass a record of 27-6 and advance to the NAIA Round of 16.

"I want to thank Director of Athletics Ricky Dotson and President Fred Slabach for allowing me to grow under their leadership and for their belief in me as a coach," Jackson said. "I have been blessed to work with some amazing people here at Texas Wesleyan University, and being able to rebuild the women's basketball program and bringing home a Sooner Athletic Conference championship has prepared me for this next step in my career."

The 2021-22 John Hudson Coach of the Year collected a 52-13 record in her time in Fort Worth, while having multiple players selected to the SAC All-Conference and NAIA All-American teams.

"While I am disappointed in the loss of a fantastic basketball coach, I am extremely excited for Brenita and the opportunity for her to take the next step in her career," said Texas Wesleyan Director of Athletics Ricky Dotson. "I knew the moment we brought Brenita to Texas Wesleyan, she would make a positive impact on our athletes and produce great success on the court. She has exceeded our expectations in every way. She leaves our women's basketball program in a great place, and I wish Brenita and her family the best."

A nationwide search for a new coach will begin immediately. For more information, contact James McBride at jhmcbride@txwes.edu.
