How to Apply

Applying to Texas Wesleyan is simple and easy. Don’t wait, start your application today.

 

Step 1. Complete your application

Your online application takes about 15 minutes to complete. You'll need to have your higher education history, recent employment information, and the names and email addresses of your three recommenders.

You’ll also have the option to upload your resume on the requirements page, which will save you a step later.

Step 2. Submit your documents & transcripts

After you submit your application, we still need a few more things from you.

1. Send us your transcripts

We need to see a transcript from every college or university you've ever attended. In many cases, you can order your transcripts online. All transcripts should be submitted to:

2. Upload your resume or CV

Your resume or CV should detail your professional qualifications for the program. It can be uploaded within the application or in the self-service center.

3. Request Letters of Recommendation

Select three professors, supervisors or professional colleagues to share their recommendation. Entry of their names and email addresses into the application automate this process. They are also welcome to send letters by mail or to graduate@txwes.edu.

4. Submit your essay

Your essay needs to be a minimum of two pages, double-spaced and answer the question, "Describe your strengths and purpose for pursuing a Master’s degree in Counseling." It can be uploaded within the application or in the self-service center.

5. Submit Official GRE Scores

If GPA requirement of 3.0 cumulative or 3.25 last 60 hours isn't met then make plans to take the GRE and request your official scores to be shared with Texas Wesleyan. Test information can be found at ets.org.

6. Background check information

Background checks are not required for admission. However, students with the intent to practice as a therapist or counselor in the state of Texas, must complete post-graduate requirements outlined by the Texas Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors (LPC) or Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) and a criminal history background check.

If you have a concern whether any prior offenses may affect your potential for licensure, you may request an early evaluation by the Texas Board of Examiners before beginning a graduate program in counseling. Visit their site for more information at https://www.dshs.state.tx.us/plc.
