Do you find yourself staring into space dreaming of spring break?
Instead of studying for your test, do you decide to take a nap?
Are you the student in the residence hall who is constantly distracting everyone on your hall?
You are definitely suffering from the mid-semester slump. This is a difficult time in the semester, but don't give up. You may find it hard to stay motivated but have no fear; the Academic Success Center is here to help.
Five tips for conquering the mid-semester slump:
- Change what is not working. Invest a little time to reflect on how you are studying and approaching your classes. It may be that you are studying the wrong way for your learning style.
- Create realistic to-do lists every day. Make it a point to complete the list each day.
- Post small goals in visible places to keep you focused.
- Find an accountability partner to ensure you complete your to-do lists. Choose a friend that you know will help you achieve your goals.
- Visit the pros. Meet with your professor, schedule a tutoring appointment or meet with Alex, Student Success Coordinator.
