Sophie Nadolski and Maggie Scribner won awards for their research presentations at the annual TriBeta Regional Conference at the Oklahoma Biological Station.

The annual competition pits undergraduate biology students from Texas Chapters of the Beta Beta Beta National Honor Society. Texas Wesleyan University’s Sigma Theta chapter members were competing against students at a host of public and private universities in Texas, the south central region of TriBeta.

The Texas Wesleyan Sigma Theta Chapter sponsored four student presentations: one poster and three oral presentations. One student took second place for her poster and another student took third place for her oral presentations. This marks six winners from Texas Wesleyan University Biology students in the last four years.

Sophie Nadolski won second place for her poster entitled Infant Mortality in Tarrant County, TX. Sophie graduates this year and will begin graduate work in public health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. 

Maggie Scribner won third place for her presentation entitled Planaria (Dugesia dorotocephala) as a Model for Glutamate Excitoxicity. Maggie’s research was sponsored by a grant from the TriBeta National Honor’s Society in 2014.
