The Department of History is pleased to announce the creation of the Elizabeth Alexander Scholars Fund. The fund was announced at the School of Natural and Social Science's Alumni Reception on April 22.
This generous endowment provided by Jim and Elizabeth Alexander will ensure that Texas Wesleyan history majors and faculty have a dedicated source of funding for scholarly activities. The Alexander's legacy gift is indicative of the life-long dedication of Professor Elizabeth Alexander, Ph.D., to both history students and her colleagues in the department. The Elizabeth Alexander Scholars Fund will enable history students to attend local and regional history conferences and the program to host such conferences. Additionally, it will provide supplemental funding for faculty scholarship.
Alexander was a long-time member of the history faculty member and Aggie M. Pate Chair of Early American History who retired in 2016. She currently teaches online courses for the program. She and her husband, Jim, live in Burleson, Texas.
Those wishing to contribute to this endowed fund should contact the Texas Wesleyan University Office of Advancement. For more information about the Elizabeth Alexander Scholars Fund, history department and student opportunities, visit txwes.edu/history.
