Chalon Anderson, a senior mass communication major, is part of the Texas Wesleyan Enactus team that won the Dallas Regionals of the Enactus Competition April 16.
The team consisting of 23 Texas Wesleyan students and faculty will compete at nationals in Kansas City, Missouri, May 20–22.
Anderson is the media content editor and technical operator for the team. She put together the presentation that the group used for regionals and will use at nationals.
“The team gave me a lot of freedom when it came to putting the presentation together,” Anderson said. “After making a few adjustments a few days before the presentation, we were able to create a great a national-quality presentation.”
Anderson did not give the presentation and didn’t think she would even go to the competition.
“I was not expecting to be with the presentation team,” she said. “The team made it clear that I had to be the one controlling the technical things, so I went with them.”
Anderson did not know the magnitude of the situation when she began creating the presentation after Spring Break or how good her presentation would be.
“I felt a lot of pride when people told me I did a great job,” she said. “It is great for me to know that the work I did made it to a national level.”
Enactus is an international Organization that creates entrepreneurial projects around the globe.
This will be the second time Anderson will compete on a national level. As a member of the volleyball team from fall 2016 to spring 2018, she went to the NAIA National Tournament this past season.
“It was a goal of mine to get to nationals,” she said. “Never did I think I would get to go twice and for two completely different things.”
