Sophomore mass communication major Hannah Onder has won her second Headliners Foundation of Texas scholarship in as many years.
Onder’s scholarship is $6,000 and will be split evenly throughout the Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 semesters. She was one of 13 students who received a scholarship from the Headliners Foundation this year.
Onder, Editor-in-Chief of Rambler Media Group, was surprised and excited when she found out she had won again.
“I couldn’t believe that I not only won, but was awarded a higher scholarship than the $2,000 scholarship I won last year,” she said.
She can’t wait to attend the Headliners Foundation banquet and meet the other winners in Austin, again in late September.
“I’m glad people are appreciating my stories,” she said. “That makes me want to continue writing in the future.”
The Headliners Foundation was founded over 30 years ago to recognize student’s commitment to journalism and reward them, so they can reach their goals in the field.
“It is with great pride that we recognize students like Hannah with scholarships designed to assist them in reaching their journalistic goals,” said Patti C. Smith, Headliners Foundation Academic Excellence Chair and International Media Consultant. “Their commitment to journalistic excellence across all disciplines is exemplary and worthy of this recognition.”
