TXWES Spanish professor adopts role of student in Mexico

TXWES Spanish professor and Spanish Program Director Dr. Amy Bell spent two weeks over the summer participating in a Spanish immersion program at Universidad Internacional's Center for Linguistic & Multicultural Studies in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico.

During her stay, Dr. Bell took six hours of classes a day in modern Mexican culture and history, lived with a host family, and attended a conference. "It was a truly rewarding experience," said Dr. Bell. "My host family was incredibly hospitable and engaging, and my professors at Universidad Internacional were knowledgeable and dynamic educators. While I have had the privilege of leading TXWES trips to Spain, Mexico and Costa Rica, it had been many years since I was able to experience such a program from the student perspective. I feel fortunate to have had this valuable experience, and am now more than ever convinced of the value of study abroad."

Dr. Bell plans to return to her role as "shepherd" next summer with another group of Rams.

If you are interested in study abroad for Spanish, contact Dr. Bell at abell@txwes.edu.
