This summer Deborah Flournoy, Ph.D., was named the director of the all-new Doctor of Nursing Practice - Family Nurse Practitioner (DNP-FNP) program. In her role, Flournoy will work to develop the new program as part of the new School of Health Professions at Texas Wesleyan. The program will accept its first cohort of nursing students for the Spring 2017 semester.

Before coming to Texas Wesleyan, Flournoy was an associate professor of nursing at Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi and has held teaching positions at other institutions such as the University of Texas at Tyler, Texas A&M University at Texarkana, Northwestern State University and the University of Mississippi Medical Center and more. During that time, she's also remained a practicing nurse and family nurse practitioner.

A few of Flournoy's current certifications and licensures include APRN, FNP-BC and CNS-P/MH. She operated her own FNP practice in New Boston, Texas.
