The alumni office is hosting a new virtual event series, TXWES Behind The Scenes, featuring different programs and departments around campus. The first event on July 14 will be hosted on Zoom and will focus on some of the pieces in the University’s permanent art collection. During the event, you’ll hear from guest speakers Nancy Edge and Rueben Gonzales about the history of the pieces and the medium in which they were created. Check out more information about the guest speakers:
Nancy Edge

Nancy Edge, CA, DAS manages and promotes the born-digital and analog materials within the Special Collections, which includes the Rare Books Division, the University Permanent Art Collection, the Robert Randall “Bobby Bragan” Collection, the H. Howard Hughes Performing Arts Collection, the Mason Johnson Theatre Collection, the Mary Apple Art Collection, and several smaller collections that comprise of art, music manuscripts, photographs, and other ephemera. The collections have particular strengths in: American history; Fort Worth and Texas history; Methodism; classic and contemporary literature; poetry; and the fine and performing arts. She also provides archival and special collections classroom instruction and reference service to community and campus researchers.
Before coming to Texas Wesleyan, Edge worked with the historical collections at the University of Houston, The Texas History Center in Rosenberg Library, and the Galveston Historical Foundation. She is a Certified Archivist as well as certified as a Digital Archives Specialist. Edge earned her bachelor of arts in maritime studies with a minor in anthropology from Texas A&M University at Galveston and her masters in information science from the University of North Texas.
Rueben Gonzales

Rueben Gonzales is an artist living in Arlington, Texas. Gonzales earned his BFA in 2008 from the University of Texas at Arlington and his MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2019, both in photography respectively. Gonzales creates conceptual works that respond to the spiritual, religious and cultural relationship of humans as they exists within nature and within the time spent there.
