Be sure to make plans to attend the Nick and Lou Martin University Center Groundbreaking Ceremony at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, and be a part of the celebration of this TXWES milestone!
The whole TXWES community including students, faculty, staff, alumni and University friends are invited to share in the excitement of this event. Students: the residence hall with the most students in attendance will receive a special prize so make sure to check in before the ceremony.
Before the ceremony, attendees will receive a free commemorative shovel* to participate in the groundbreaking as we line the perimeter of the new building for an aerial drone photo. After the TXWES Pep Band performs the Alma Mater and Fight Song, stick around for food, games, music and free t-shirts (while supplies last) on the north side of the campus mall.
You don’t want to miss this historical event. Someday you could be telling your friends and family that you took part in this groundbreaking!
Located between the Eunice and James L. West Library and Canafax Clock Tower, the Martin Center will be approximately 44,000-square-feet and two stories tall. It will include a new student and family welcome center, food court, ballroom that can accommodate 300, bookstore and convenience store, spaces for student organizations and student life offices, lounge areas, meeting rooms and additional office space.
Note: Parking lots A, B and W will be closed Thursday, April 19 for VIP groundbreaking guests and alumni. Students, faculty and staff should use lots E, N, P and U.
