Many alumni and friends have been asking about what Texas Wesleyan is doing in response to the current pandemic. The goal of Texas Wesleyan during this unprecedented time is to continue to provide students with a Smaller. Smarter. education, while at the same time implementing the maximum social distancing possible to aid the community in “flattening the curve.” 

Here is a summary of some information about the university's response to the public health emergency.  For the most up to date information, please visit txwes.edu/coronavirus.  

Class Instruction – Online instruction started Monday, March 23, and will continue through the end of the spring semester. Faculty who normally teach face-to-face classes are working with our Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) to develop creative and engaging course content that can be delivered virtually.  

Staff Working Remotely – Most university staff members are now working remotely while continuing operations of the university. The best and most direct way to contact university staff members is via email at their TXWES email address. 

Residence Halls – Residential students will be leaving dorms by March 25 unless they have no reasonable alternative. Prorated refunds will be provided for those students who move out of the residence halls. For the small number who must remain, there will be limited take-out food service through Dora’s Cafe. 

Campus Facilities – Most buildings on campus will be closed except for those that must remain open to serve the university's current needs. 

Student Athletes – The NAIA and the Sooner Athletic Conference have canceled all sports practices and play for the spring semester. Students with questions about their continued athletic eligibility for next academic year should contact their coach. 

Outside Events – All events sponsored by outside groups have been cancelled or postponed until further notice. 

University Sponsored Events – Consistent with CDC guidance, all events with an expected attendance of 50 people or more will be cancelled or postponed for the next eight weeks (through May 10.) Some university events may be conducted virtually. Hopefully, some events can be postponed and rescheduled to a later date and we look forward to celebrating our resiliency as soon as possible. 

Commencement – While all the details are not finalized, TXWES will host robing, hooding and commencement ceremonies, but most likely not on their original dates. Arrangements will be made over the coming weeks and shared with the TXWES community.
