Pictured above: Dr. Cary Adkinson speaks with WFAA reporter Todd Unger on the case of Ada Bilbrey.
About 70 years ago, Ada Bilbrey was on the front page of newspapers around the country after being accused in the deaths of her husband, daughter and son-in-law in Fort Worth.
WFAA/News 8 turned to Cary Adkinson, Ph.D., associate professor of criminal justice at Texas Wesleyan University, to learn more about who some consider to be Tarrant County’s first female serial killer.
"Often times with women, it isn't always who you expect," Adkinson told WFAA. "They’re kindly, next-door grandmotherly figures. For committing these types of crimes, they're not typically boogie men in the dark with scary knives waiting to hurt you. They're very unassuming."
