Texas Wesleyan is proud of its status as a Hispanic-Serving Institution, making the University eligible for grants that expand educational opportunities for Hispanic students. 

The team at Niche.com, which specializes in connecting students with the right school, has taken notice, ranking TXWES among the top 30% of Best Hispanic-Serving Institutions in America. Niche based its rankings on analysis of key statistics for each university, along with student reviews. TXWES also earned an A+ for diversity from Niche. 29% of Texas Wesleyan students identify as Hispanic. 

“Texas Wesleyan’s designation as a Hispanic-Serving Institution exemplifies our mission to provide transformational learning opportunities to a diverse group of students,” said Texas Wesleyan University President Frederick G. Slabach. “In fall 2018, 53% of students identified as Asian, Black, Latino or biracial. In fall 2021, that number increased to 58%. Our community is a better place because of the diverse backgrounds and voices of the students who are a part of it.” 

With a Hispanic population of at least 25%, Hispanic-Serving Institutions qualify for federal grants to enhance academic offerings, program quality and institutional stability.
