We Rams are proud of our "Smaller. Smarter." focus. This year, however, we're going to Texas-size our 125th anniversary celebrations.
It's a yearlong celebration that starts with the campus-wide President's Picnic on Aug. 27, moves through a slew of activities and events and ends with a celebration for our newest alumni at Spring Commencement on May 14.
"It is fitting that we have reached a milestone anniversary at this time of excitement and energy on campus," President Frederick G. Slabach, said. "Rams can be proud of our accomplishments and campus improvements, and we hope to see you at many of our anniversary celebrations."
Here are some special events you won't want to miss. Each will have a 125-year focus. Find up-to-date details about each of them at txwes.edu/news-and-events.
Willson Lectureship - 7 p.m., Sept. 28, Martin Hall
Ndaba Mandela, grandson of Nelson Mandala, and Naomi Tutu, daughter of Archbishop Desmond Tutu will be the speakers at this year's Willson Lectureship. This is the first time the two human rights activists, whose forefathers ended apartheid, have presented together.
Rosedale Renaissance Dedication Ceremony - Oct. 22
You won't believe how much Rosedale Street and the front of the campus has changed. See it for yourself at the Rosedale Renaissance Dedication, which features a barbeque luncheon and party on the mall by the stunning new Canafax Clock Tower.
Many local dignitaries, including Mayor Betsy Price and Tarrant County Commissioner Roy Brooks will be on hand for the ribbon cutting and party.
125th Anniversary Gala - Feb. 20
This don't-miss event at the Worthington Hotel in downtown Fort Worth is going to be huge, and seating will be limited, so mark your calendars now. We will be honoring U.S. Congresswoman Kay Granger '65 HON '93, who is the honorary chair of the event, and Lou Martin HON '03, who is the event chair.
