President Slabach Speaks at Polytechnic UMC’s Wesleyan Sunday
President Frederick G. Slabach greeted and addressed the congregation of Polytechnic United Methodist Church Sunday, Sept. 25, as part of the church’s traditional “Texas Wesleyan Sunday” service.
“My religious tradition says the purpose of life is to learn, to love and to serve,’ Slabach said, “and that is the purpose of Texas Wesleyan University.”
Religion major Justin Mikulencak delivered the service message and the Wesleyan Chamber Singers sang, under the direction of Jerome Bierschenk, assistant professor of music. Many members of the Texas Wesleyan community were in attendance.
In addition to Wesleyan Sunday, President Slabach will visit area Methodist congregations in upcoming weeks to discuss Texas Wesleyan and the learning opportunities the university offers. “First and foremost, we’re a Methodist school and our connections to the church, are very important,” Slabach said.
