Did you know that Texas Wesleyan now has a shuttle system that transports on-campus students to the grocery store, downtown Fort Worth and the cultural district on weekends?
I am proud to present my next GEM Award to Melissa Wells, area coordinator in residence life, for quickly turning this much-needed project into a reality.
In early June, Melissa enthusiastically took on the assignment. One week later, the shuttle system was running. Over the past four weekends, the shuttle has served more than 70 students. The shuttle runs a route on Saturdays and Sundays to Walmart, Sundance Square and Montgomery Plaza.
Melissa swiftly developed and implemented the plan. She determined the shuttle route, trained drivers, created a passenger log and wrote policies and procedures for students and drivers. Melissa’s hard work and dedication is an example of how one staff member can quickly make an impact on the lives of our students.
Our mission to provide a vibrant student life and support the “whole” student is an important part of our 2020 Vision. The new shuttle supports that mission by offering a service that some students did not have before.
Please join me in thanking Melissa for her hard work and contributions to the University. Because of Melissa, we are another step closer to achieving our goals.
