In a move that reaffirms Texas Wesleyan’s commitment to the revitalization of southeast Fort Worth, the university has purchased storefront property on East Rosedale Street.
The property is in the 3000 and 3100 blocks of East Rosedale, between Binkley St. and Vaughn Blvd., across from the soon-to-be campus entryway and clock tower.
The purchase signifies Texas Wesleyan’s commitment to the neighborhood and commitment to helping the area grow economically.
"We are unwavering in our commitment to support the revitalization of the Polytechnic Heights neighborhood," President Frederick G. Slabach said. "We believe this purchase is good for Texas Wesleyan, good for the neighborhood and opens good business opportunities for retailers."
President Slabach said that the University plans to use part of the shopping center for University programs and will lease another portion. The University has had interest from several food-service retailers.
"Campus is buzzing with speculation over who will be our new neighbors," Slabach said. "We hope to be able to make an announcement soon."
Texas Wesleyan launched the Rosedale Renaissance project in 2012 and construction is currently underway on several projects:
