My next GEM Award goes to Gayle Anderson, administrative assistant for the department of kinesiology.
Recruiting and retaining students is the responsibility of everyone at Texas Wesleyan. Gayle is a wonderful example of how the actions of one individual can make a big impact on the "Smaller. Smarter." experience.
For the last two years, Gayle has taken it upon herself to plant and care for the flowers in the Sid Richardson Center atrium, and the planters outside of Dan Waggoner Hall and the administration building. Many of us pass by and enjoy these flowers everyday without realizing that Gayle is the reason why they are there.
Gayle is always smiling and always eager to help students, faculty and her colleagues. Pam Rast says that she couldn't imagine a better "first face" to greet students and visitors to the department and that "Gayle has never met a stranger." Pam describes her as "a mom to students in the kinesiology department" and says that many students return to campus long after graduation just to visit her.
Please join me in thanking Gayle for her dedication to Texas Wesleyan.
