With my next GEM Award, I would like to recognize dedicated faculty and staff from the School of Education for their hard work in creating and implementing Texas Wesleyan’s Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Ph.D. program. This is the first Ph.D. program and third doctoral-level offering for the university.
Led by Linda Metcalf, Ph.D., the MFT advisory committee spent three years developing the program:
Texas Wesleyan’s MFT Ph.D. program is unique among competing programs in North Texas in that it offers students the opportunity to apply critical thinking skills through hands-on clinic experience at the Glick House.
The program has also introduced the Master Therapist Series, which brings internationally published, practicing therapists who are masters in their field to Texas Wesleyan to present to our students and other licensed practitioners in the area.
The new MFT Ph.D. program is a wonderful example of how we can work together to reach our 2020 goals of developing high-quality, academic programs.
Please join me in congratulating the faculty team for this outstanding achievement, which is a great source of pride for us all.
