For the seventh consecutive year, Texas Wesleyan University is ranked in the No. 1 tier of regional universities in the West, according to U.S. News & World Report.

“The U.S. News & World Report ranking continues to validate what our faculty, staff and students already know about Texas Wesleyan: That our students thrive in small classrooms with professors that push them to think for themselves and use creative problem-solving skills.”

The ranking puts Texas Wesleyan in the same tier as universities like Trinity University (San Antonio), Oklahoma City University (Oklahoma City) and St. Edward’s University (Austin).

Smaller is Smarter

The University’s commitment to the "Smaller. Smarter." philosophy and to achieving the goals outlined in the 2020 Vision strategic plan played a critical role in the rankings, which were based on factors such as peer assessment and class size. 

More than 63 percent of Texas Wesleyan’s classes have fewer than 20 students. It also boasted a 16:1 student to faculty ratio.

“Small classes and an engaged faculty produce big results in the lives of our students,” Slabach said. “We see it as our job to not only teach them how to learn; we want our students to learn how to think.”
