Please join us in welcoming Megan Cooley to the RAMily as the new University counsel.
Cooley brings more than 20 years of legal and management experience, including 14 years as an attorney managing complex litigation and employment matters for corporate and individual clients in federal, administrative and state forums, and seven years in leadership positions with two large and influential nonprofit law-related organizations.
“In our national search for a University general counsel, we were looking for a candidate with proven legal experience at the highest levels as well as someone who understands the legal and management challenges of a nonprofit organization,” said President Frederick G. Slabach. “Megan is uniquely qualified on both counts and is the ideal person for this critical role.”
Cooley comes to Texas Wesleyan after serving as executive director of both the Tarrant County Bar Association and the Tarrant County Bar Foundation. Previously, she served as senior counsel at Kelly, Hart & Hollman in Fort Worth.
“The search committee was pleased to see an extensive number of applicants nationwide interested in the position of general counsel at Texas Wesleyan University,” said Hector Quintanilla, provost and search committee chair. “Megan’s passion for education, her network in the Fort Worth community, and her legal accomplishments in areas of the law that most affect the University make her a great selection for the role of general counsel.”
“Megan brings a wealth of knowledge to the University through experience working with the Tarrant County Bar Association and Foundation,” said Jerri Schooley, vice president for advancement. “She has a good sense of Texas Wesleyan, our community position and the resources to help Texas Wesleyan accomplish our goals.”
