How esports is gearing up Nick Hains for a successful career
Hains joined the program as an undergraduate and has stayed in esports to continue to build his skills while he gets his MBA.
The TXWES Esports & Gaming Department unites with our students to transform their passions into workplace-ready skills in a supportive, engagement-based community on the path to educational and personal success. We do this by focusing on the four pillars of our program: Competition, Creation, Community and Career.
COMPETITION Overwatch 2 & Smash Ultimate |
CREATION Create, produce, edit or stream with one of our content teams |
COMMUNITY Attend events or join one of our orgs |
CAREER Have fun getting prepared for any future career |
COMPETITION Valorant, Smash Ultimate, FIFA |
CREATION Create, produce, edit or stream with one of our content teams |
COMMUNITY Attend events or join one of our orgs |
CAREER Have fun getting prepared for any future career |
Try out and compete on one of our varsity esports teams. We practice, do video reviews, work out and build rapport so you can be successful in-game.
Whether it's for Twitch, YouTube or other social media, we want to make content people want to watch. Help guide projects from brainstorming and marketing all the way to distribution to further build your resume or portfolio.
Take part in a student organization, attend events, help host events or just hang out — either way, you'll gain lasting relationships and have fun along the way. We have student organizations focused on a variety of esports, gaming and pop culture areas. Don't see something you like? Let's build it together!
We want this experience to be fun and meaningful, but we also want to prepare you for life after TXWES and a successful career. Whether you take some of the three credit hour classes in esports from TXWES, work in our department or take part in any areas above, we want you to gain experience and receive mentoring to help you for whatever comes next.
Whether your passion is competing, creating content or helping our community grow on campus, you'll have a real shot at getting some money to help pay for your TXWES education.
We have paid student positions in our department and we are looking for people that are ready to work hard on stuff they love.
Package that with academic scholarships and other financial aid, and you’ll have a great head start toward paying for school. With the money you’ll save, you might even be able to pick up a few new games.
The first step? Submit your info and let us know you are interested. One of our staff will reach out to you from there and we will start creating a plan to get you involved.
Email us and we can talk – esports@txwes.edu.
If you're thinking about applying to Texas Wesleyan or transferring to the University, we have a different form for you to fill out.
