Religion program hosts informational meeting

Marie Olson-Purcell speaking at REL meeting

According to Visiting Professor of Religion Marie Olson-Purcell, majoring or minoring in Religion is no longer just for those going into the ministry.  "While the major will help prepare students for seminary, studying religion equips students to relate and connect to people, which is an essential interpersonal skill for any career in an increasingly diverse work arena," she said.

The Bachelor of Science in Religion is a 30-credit-hour major that can be tailored to the specific interests of the students. Course options include eastern religions, Islamic, Christian and Jewish studies and include option in history and popular studies. So whether a student is working on a degree in international business, theatre or anything in between, the religion major equips future leaders to successfully understand values and connect with people of various religious and cultural backgrounds.

The Religion Program offers the following degree options: B.S. in Religion (major), Christian Studies Minor and Interfaith Leadership Minor.

Additionally, students majoring or minoring in any of these majors/minors, or who are pursuing careers in a specific ministry area are eligible for scholarship funding.
