The Department of Spanish teamed up with representatives from various academic majors within the School of Arts and Sciences and with student groups, including the Bilingual Education Student Association (BESO), the Latinx Student Association and the Texas Wesleyan Honors Program, to take part in the 19th Annual Día de los Muertos Parade. The event was sponsored by Artes de la Rosa Cultural Center for the Arts in partnership with the City of Fort Worth, Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Latino Police Officers Association and Visita Fort Worth. Dr. Ricardo E. Rodriguez, Dean of Arts and Sciences, drove a float emblazoned with a banner that read “Texas Wesleyan University is proud to be a Hispanic-Serving Institution.” Each academic major in the School of Arts and Sciences was represented on the float with a colorful handmade sign.

Following the parade, Dr. Amy Bell represented the School of Arts and Sciences at the day-long Día de los Muertos festival at the Artes de la Rosa Plaza, where she mingled with parade goers and distributed TXWES swag and literature. Zoe Pascual, Bilingual Education EC6 student and owner of Sky Pirates Inflatables, generously offered her services painting the faces of future Rams. Meanwhile, Harold Liles of Cat City Design, set up and manned the custom TXWES cornhole board he made for the event.
