The Texas Wesleyan University’s Enactus team joined 15 other university teams from the southern region at the Fall Training Conference in Grapevine last weekend. As part of the training, they watched Poverty, Inc., a film by the Acton Institute that challenges current perceptions of global charity and promotes entrepreneurship as an effective alternative to alleviating world poverty. The film was an inspiration for future Enactus projects.
During the conference, there were representatives available to discuss job and internship opportunities from companies such as Sam’s Club, Walmart, Enterprise, Fidelity Investments, Walgreens and Finish Line. Victoria Hoschar, a recent Sam’s Club intern, reflected on her internship during the summer of 2016 and Christa Gjedde received an Assistant Manager position with Walmart upon graduation in May 2017.
It was a great day for Texas Wesleyan students to work together, learn more about the Enactus advantage, interact with other Enactus teams and check out potential career paths.
