Texas Wesleyan is committed to providing its students and employees with the opportunity to live, learn and work in a safe, respectful and inclusive environment. We strive to create this environment by cultivating a culture of diversity and inclusion at every level of our institution.
Statement of Values and Commitment to Action
In response to a weeklong student-led initiative through the Black Student Association (BSA), students and members of the administration held a roundtable discussion in March of 2022. As a result of those discussions, University President Frederick G. Slabach responded with the statement below.
Our Mission
The mission of the Diversity and Inclusion Council is to increase multicultural awareness and cross-cultural competencies. The functional definition of diversity refers to the exploration of our collective experiences in a safe and positive environment through four existing dimensions:
- Representational diversity (demographics)
- Curricular and co-curricular transformation
- Campus climate
- Institutional leadership commitment and accountability
Diversity and inclusion efforts are essential to our continued growth, success and mission focus.
